GOLD PROSPECTING
This is me running a 3" dredge on Peshastin Cr. in the Washington Cascades.
King Cr. claim of the North Central Washington Prospectors, on Peshastin Cr., Hwy 97 is in the background.
Peshastin Cr., note the exposed bedrock and boulders. This is on the King Cr. claim.
Rolling a few boulders out of the way, we worked back to left once we got on bedrock. If a guy had a week here he could run a hole in that direction until he found the really good pay streak.
Getting the dredge started, note this dredge has a motor and pump separate from the sluice. This type of footvalve can be used in very shallow water.
This is a LeTrap sluice, very good at fine gold recovery. This particular sluice was custom designed and built with an expanded metal area with carpet at the low end of the sluice. It may be the only one left of its kind. Those innertube floats also work vey well in shallow water.
Cleaning up, getting water in the tub before washing the concentrates from the sluice into the tub.
Looking in the pan for that elusive gold, sure enough, a few specks and an occasional flake.
